(Photo by Rich Schultz /Getty Images)Stadium reporter Brett McMurphy dropped yet another bombshell report this past Friday, which alleges that former Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith ordered sex toys to the school’s football facility, photographed himself having sex with a fellow staffer in his office and took lewd photographs of himself in the White House. Monday, he joined Clay Travis on Outkick The Coverage to talk about the public’s response to the report.McMurphy dropped an interesting tidbit about Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer’s situation. McMurphy says there’s “another scenario” in play regarding Meyer’s potential fate. The gist? Meyer could be presented the findings of the school’s investigation and choose to either resign or negotiate an exit. In that case, the findings of the report would not necessarily need to be released by the school. So if Meyer determines he doesn’t want the findings of the report to become public, he could choose to play ball with the school. Here’s what McMurphy had to say:“I think ultimately it boils down to how Ohio State wants to be perceived as a university and does president Michael Drake want to be viewed as a cheerleader or a leader?…By law, they have to provide 24 hours notice before the meeting, so if they’re going to come out with the decision, then we’ll have at least 24 hours notice. Someone else that I talked to said there’s another scenario. If the decision is to get rid of Urban Meyer and they go to Urban Meyer and notify him of that, and then he reaches a settlement, then technically they could just come out and say “here’s the release, we’ve reached a settlement with Urban Meyer, he’s no longer the coach.”Then technically, they would not even have to answer questions about the investigation. If Urban Meyer technically stepped down on his own, maybe they still would release the results of the the investigation, but technically I don’t know if they would even have to.”McMurphy joins the podcast around the 100-minute mark:Ohio State’s investigation was supposed to wrap up Sunday, and it seems like the final decision on Meyer’s fate should be coming this week.last_img
