Captain Ross Taylor, standing in place of Daniel Vettori, was the top scorer with 33 in the last league match for both teams.Skipper Sangakkara pipped Muralitharan for the Man-of-the-Match award for his impressive century. With this win Sri Lanka moved on top of the table with nine points.Earlier, Sangakkara’s ton helped Sri lanka post 265/9 in their stipulated 50 overs against New Zealand.And it wasn’t the kind of start that Sri Lanka would have asked for as their opener Upul Tharanga ended up getting run out in the third over when the score was 13/1. A few minutes later the other opener Tillakaratne Dilshan too departed with Tim Southee claiming his wicket in the fifth over with Jacob Oram taking a fine catch in the deep. He fell for three when the team total was 19/2.But post that wicket, Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara and senior batsman Mahela Jayawardene got on with a partnership that helped the Lankans cross 100-run mark. The two put on 145 runs for the third wicket before Jayawardene departed on 66.But Sangakkara carried on to help Sri Lanka post 265 on board.last_img
