first_imgThe Initiative for Peace and Development (IPD), a humanitarian group, has donated assorted items to an Ebola Treatment Center, Deaf and Children Orphanage Home and the Association of Ebola Survivors in Monrovia.Executive director, Ophelia N. Carpenter, said the items were provided by African United for Children Future (AUCF), a group in partnership with her organization. She said the donation included several bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, and boxes of soap and Clorox, estimated to have cost about US$2,000.Madam Carpenter said her group is sensitive to the plight of Ebola survivors and other less fortunate Liberians, especially during the Christmas season. She said this was indeed necessary as it puts smiles on people’s faces.Ebola Survivors Association assistant secretary general, Madam Vivian Rogers, expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Initiative for Peace and Development for identifying with her organization in this difficult time. She said that Ebola survivors in the country had largely been abandoned by family members and friends, leaving them vulnerable and stigmatized at all levels.Madam Rogers used the occasion to call on humanitarian organizations in the country to come to the assistance of Ebola survivors.Supported by the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare and the IMS, the National Survivors Network last week, electing its corps of officers, was inaugurated to support all Ebola survivors in the country. Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
